Prime Minister Rishi Sunak paid a visit to Artemis Technologies today, a pioneering clean maritime company at the forefront of technological innovation.
This visit comes on the heels of Artemis Technologies recent announcement about the next phase in their manufacturing expansion, the serial production of their 24m range of electric foiling ferries. This marks a significant milestone in the company's growth and commitment to sustainable development.
During the visit the Prime Minister toured Artemis Technologies state-of-the-art facilities, witnessing firsthand the cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions that are transforming the maritime industry. He met a cross section of employees including a cohort of apprentices who are undertaking an apprenticeship in Advanced Manufacturing in conjunction with Belfast Met.
Artemis Technologies has been lauded for its advancements in electric maritime propulsion systems, which significantly reduce vessel emissions in operation and therefore contribute to a cleaner environment. The Prime Minister called Northern Ireland “an incredible community” and said “that Northern Ireland had a reputation for world class innovation and for world class manufacturing as demonstrated right here by Artemis Technologies”.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Prime Minister to our facilities," said Dr. Iain Percy, CEO of Artemis Technologies. "Our team has worked tirelessly to push the boundaries of what is possible in clean maritime technology which has been underpinned by support from the UK Government. Green technologies are the future for a healthier and more sustainable planet. The Prime Minister was able to experience first hand our world class technology on board one of our 12m electric foiling vessels. We also shared an update with him regarding the progress of our expanding manufacturing capabilities for our 24m ferries which are currently in production.”
The recent manufacturing expansion will enable Artemis Technologies to increase its production capacity, create new jobs, and further develop its suite of green technologies. This move is expected to bolster the local economy and cement the company's position as a global leader in the green maritime sector and meet the significant global demand for its vessels.
Artemis Technologies dedication to innovation and sustainability has earned it numerous accolades, including Clean Maritime Innovator of the Year and Maritime UK Innovation Award.
With this next phase in its manufacturing capabilities, the company is poised to accelerate its mission to decarbonise the maritime industry and contribute to global environmental goals.
